Gambia’s Health minister, Dr Ahmadou Lamin Samateh, has tested negative for coronavirus.
The minister who is leading the fight against the disease in the country has been in self-isolation
after three of his close working contacts tested Covid positive while own preliminary results turned inconclusive.
“It is gratifying to report that the Honourable Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmadou Lamin Samateh, has checked out of his quarantine facility moments ago after his second Covid-19 test results turned negative,” a statement from the Ministry of Information stated.
The minister has resume active duties and leading the crusade against the disease which increasing in the country at an alarming rate. Over a thousand people have contracted the disease which has killed 16 people in the country.
The rapid development of different Covid test remains a cause for concern.
I don’t know the type of test the Hon Minister used, but let’s make what I consider best clinical practice guide in this situation.
The Hon Minister should:
Self quarantine for 14 days regardless of his result.
Let’s try to make good clinical decisions and follow science.
