State Prosecutors in the Gambia have come up with a new indictment charging Ousainou Bojang with double murder, terrorism, grievous bodily harm, and attempt to murder.
When the case came up for hearing, Ousainou Bojang and his sister Amie Bojang seized the opportunity to take their plea, in which they denied all charges pressed against them and pleaded not guilty.
On September 12, 2023, Ousainou Bojang allegedly fired shots at three police officers, leaving two dead and one seriously wounded.
The Prosecution called on their first witness to take the stand as 23 other witnesses are lining up.
In his evidence in chief, the Prosecution Witness N°1 (PW1) corroborated the findings of the State prosecutors and confirmed that Ousainou Bojang was behind the shooting that claimed the lives of two Police officers while the third one had suffered severe injuries.
He revealed that after Ousainou Bojang committed murder he followed him at a distance until the accused person jumped over a fence and disappeared.
As a member of Gambia Armed Forces (GAF), the first prosecution witness told the court he and his friends handed over bullets found at the crime scene.
Meanwhile, the sister of the principal suspect, Amie Bojang, is slapped with “accessory after the fact to murder.”
According to court documents obtained by JollofNews, “having known that Ousainou Bojang had committed murder,” she “assisted him to fled the Gambia in order to enable him escape punishment and thereby committed an offense.”
The case was later adjourned to November 30, 2023 for continuation.
