38 New Buses For Urban Gambia As Barrow Launches Urban Transport Initiative

In what could be described as a watershed moment in the history of the country’s public transport sector, the Gambian leader will on Tuesday preside over the launch of the Urban Transport Initiative at the McCarthy Square in Banjul.

President Adama Barrow will also commission 38 new buses as part of his government’s efforts in digging a grave for the country’s perennial urban transport problem.

According to a press release from the transport ministry, the Urban Transport Initiative is in conformity with the NDP which recognises the important contribution of public transport services towards the efficient functioning of the national economy.

“Consequently, it is with great pleasure the Ministry of Transport, Works and Infrastructure and the Gambia Transport Services Company invite the general public to grace the ceremony,” stated the release issued to JollofNews on Monday.

Meanwhile, the event begins at 11.00am.
