Barely weeks after the land mark reunion of ‘father and son’ (President Abdoulie Wade, and his Gambian counterpart, Yahya Jammeh), the fruits of their Banjul discussion appear to be growing fast. A meeting of experts from the two countries is under way in the Senegalese capital, Dakar. And accordingly, this meeting, which commenced on Friday, January 22 2010, will prepare the way for the fourth coming joint commission meeting between the two countries, scheduled for April later this year. That will be part of a series of meeting geared towards addressing number issues that have been highlighted as part of the newly found Banjul-Dakar relations. Information gathered from Banjul indicates that the Gambian delegation is being headed by Kumba Conateh, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of the Interior. Gambia and Senegal mended their relations after President Abdoulie Wade paid a visit to the Gambia early January, which visit saw the emergence of a pact that will required changes in the way both sides deal with a number issues.
