How Barrow Gov’t Deploy Implicated KMC Staff To Russia

At a time when the Kanifing Municipality Council staff, embroiled in an alleged D11M land scam, await their fate at home, President Adama Barrow’s administration has sent one of the implicated staff to Russia.

Former acting KMC CEO Sutay Jawo was named in the alleged Sainabou Martin Sonko-orchestrated fraud uncovered sometime ago but as investigators moved in to quiz them about the level of their involvement in the scandal, Jawo found reprieve in his appointment to the diplomatic service.

His alleged confederates in the reported fraud former CEO Sainabou Martin Sonko, accountant Babucarr Sanyang, finance director Dr. Abubakarr Keita, among others, were told to pack and leave on grounds of suspension to allow investigators look into allegations of an attempt by them to defraud the KMC staff association of D11M.

Though, Sainabou Martin Sonko had put up a strong but brief fight to restore her short stint at the KMC, she lost the ground.

She finally succumbed to sustained pressure from staff, who were keen on ensuring that the ban on entering KMC premises imposed on her by the council authorities, was enforced.

After two days of futile attempts, she left in disgrace.

Meanwhile, as some of the beleaguered KMC staff brood over their fate in the confines of their homes, implicated former acting CEO Sutay Jawo is now reportedly learning new diplomatic skills in Russia as he transitions from a local authority officer to a diplomat.

This brings into question President Adama Barrow and his government’s readiness to combat corruption.
