Poor Internet Connectivity Hinders Mass Electronic Birth Registration Efforts

Poor internet connectivity has been hindering the mass electronic birth and National Health Insurance membership card registration drive but the exercise has started to gain momentum thanks to more investment in internet.

The exercise took off the ground last year but weak signal strengths saw many lose enthusiasm in it.

Officers were relying on mega bytes to process applications.

However, the government of the Gambia has reportedly migrated from mega bytes to “satellite” and the idea was to expedite the process.

At the time of writing this article, registration officers were still stuck in Western Health Region One.
