Gambia (JollofNews) – Two people have died in the Gambia after a speeding Mercedes Benz 200 C Class crashed into an electric pole on Kairaba Avenue.

Police and the Gambia fire and ambulance service were called out to LG office shortly before 4.30am.
Two occupants of the car, including the driver were both killed, police said. Two other passengers who were sitting in the back seat survived the crash with life changing injuries and are currently receiving treatment at the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital in Banjul.
The green Mercedes Benz which was traveling towards Westfield Junction was said to have hit a pothole and veered across the road and crashed into the pole.
A spokesman for the Gambia Police Force said both the driver and the front passenger who are yet to be name had died on the spot.
“According to our investigation, the driver must have been over-speeding and lost control at the point of the junction on Kairaba Avenue and then hit an electric pole,” said ASP Lamin Njie.
