Kebba Dibba: Face Of Gambia’s State-Owned Television Dies

(JollofNews) – Kebba Dibba, one of the most famous faces on Gambian television, who reported and produced many groundbreaking documentaries and stories for the state-owned Gambia Radio and Television Services (GRTS) has died on Tuesday in Dakar, Senegal.

He was 50.

His death was confirmed by his family and former colleagues.

Mr Dibba joined the Gambia’s only public service broadcaster over a decade ago, and held various senior position including director of  television programmes and director general.

He also presented various television programmes including 1 on 1 The Exclusive.

Born in 1965 in Foni Sintet, Mr Dibba attended Muslim High School in 1980 before working in the media industry.

In 2006 he was sponsored by President Yahya Jammeh to study a postgraduate degree programme in journalism at the University of Cardiff. He returned to the Gambia after graduation and continued to serve the state media in various positions until his death.
