(JollofNews) – As we move towards the National Assembly elections on April 6, we will catalogue the series of crimes committed by APRC and its parliamentarians for Gambians to know that the greatest enemy of the Gambia was none other than the APRC led by Yaya Jammeh and APRC NAMs. Voting for APRC therefore means not only bringing back dictatorship but also defending the rape, torture, enforced disappearance and killing of Gambians and the plunder of public wealth.
This is the party of torturers, rapists and killers of innocent Gambians and looters and plunderers of Gambia’s wealth. In its 22 years of tyranny the most powerful base of Yaya Jammeh are his APRC National Assembly Members. They are the ones who butchered our constitution in every imaginable way just to make Yaya Jammeh a de facto brutal king over Gambians.
These APRC NAMs condoned, defended, justified and supported each and every abuse of power and each and every crime committed by Yaya Jammeh and his thugs against innocent Gambians. How then can any Gambian return an APRC candidate back to our National Assembly?
Gambians must not forget the trauma and sense of insecurity inflicted on the people by Yaya Jammeh. Yaya Jammeh was a violent predator who practically and directly threatened each every Gambian, regardless of whether one was an APRC supporter or not. He had subjected every citizen to fear and indeed everyone was vulnerable and at risk of being arrested, dismissed, tortured and killed. Whether one was a civil servant or a security officer, a businessman or woman, a child or an imam or priest or just a private citizen, no one ever felt safe under Yaya Jammeh. Every Gambian was a potential victim. In that environment of insecurity, trauma and fear, it was the APRC NAMs who were the powerbase of the Regime of Yaya Jammeh, which they defended and entrenched.
These APRC NAMs defended Yaya Jammeh in a number of ways. Where they should speak up for the Gambia, they kept silent. Where they should stand up for the Gambia, they sat down. Where they should defend citizen rights, they allowed Yaya Jammeh to destroy them. Where they should protect our public wealth, they allowed Yaya Jammeh to plunder, as he liked. APRC NAMs deserve no place in our National Assembly. Ever.
We will catalogue their crimes against the Gambia.
God bless the Gambia.
By Madi Jobarteh
It would be in the best interest of the Gambian people if Jammeh’s party could be simply outlawed. as long as this can’t happy, we must do all we can to trounce the APRC in the elections. A victory of the APRC would spell catastrophe.
NO to dictatorship!
NO to crimes and murderers!
Frank Stenner, While we are on the Unconstitutional Track of Outlawing Political Parties as a Prescription for Curing or Healing the Gambia’s Ugly Past foot the past 52 years of Self Rule, let’s start with the Nationalists, Supremacists European and American Neo Nazis and Facist Parties. How many times did you Propose such Prescription? I bet Never! Yet, you with “Toubab” White man’s burden” Hypocracy find it normal to dish out such horse shit. I am not a member of any Party in the Gambia. Not yet. But if a Party is Outlawed, I am definitely going to be interested in joining that Party, if for nothing, but the fact that it is Unconditional to Disenfranchise tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands because of the alleged deeds of the leadership or a few Officials of the Accused. Charge the guilty with the Specific and Particular Crimes and Prosecute them, if you have Substantiative and Strong Evidence to Charge them with. Collective Punishment is never an Acceptable answer to any Issue or Problem a Nation State Confronts. Stop peddling Despotic and Undemocratic Politics and Policies you would rather die than see implemented in your Nation State of Birth. Respect yourself. Gambians have more Sense than what you and some of your colleagues are Prescribing. Such Medicine would likely Kill the Patient instead of Cure or Heal the Patient (The Gambia). Gambia is More than the Sum Total of One Individual One Ethnic Group and Region. One Gambia, One People, One Destiny.
Sidi, is this really you? Who are you and what have you done to Sidi?? Anyway i wholeheartedly agree with you that it will be stupid to attempt to ban APRC. I will personally campaign and even help to raise funds to make a legal challenge to any attempt by anyone to ban APRC. Only the Gambian electorate can ban the APRC by shunning the Party. I agree with you Sidi that there are more extreme nasty Parties in Europe but everyone glosses over it by saying it is people’s democratic rights to form a party. So why should Gambia be different? Unlike Europe we Gambians know that what unites us far outweighs what divide us. So Frank if you do not have anything else constructive to add to the debate, may i suggest you go offline. Do not assume that we Gambians are idiots.
Thanks Madi, you are very right and i hope the Coalition would not be the enablers of this victory rather that the electorate. if we have these bunch of selfish tribalist and partisan coalition we are witnessing, then what do you expect?
The tactical alliance is facing blows on who to select . If this fails, who should we blame? Are you following the selection process and the issues emanating? The Upper Fulladu Scam? Darboe own home town?
Having the AFPRC to dominate or aleast have a good number of candidate can be possible if the electorate loose confidence in those selected in the tactical alliance. This is why, it would have been better to contest on a single platform( The Coalition Independent Candidates) and hence reduce this possible backfire. A failure in the national assembly election by the coalition could mean something else. I think you need to give them a word of caution( Darboe, Mai Fatty and Amat Bah) first before the electorates. We will blame them squarely for any negative happenings .
The bunch of non remorseful, not God Fearing and enablers former MPs should never even be given any position in their lifetime.Let them all go and farm and survive. But if you have non-stained respectable new brooms who emerged and find this wrecking Coalition boat, what can happen?
I am not surprised that the upper fuladu (Darboe’s home district) , is under fire from detractors. All selections are facing the same dilemma. My district faced the hercules task of selecting from 20 aspirants. A mid-30 gentleman was voted to be selected. Prompt some losers labelled him too young for the job. Is that a criteria? His candidature stands because he was anti-jammeh from day one and incredibly helped the coalition to victory in our district. Thankfully Darboe is not from our district lest he be blamed for choosing an “inexperienced” youngster. This blaming is a detracting ploy. The choosen candidates are better than jammeh’s erstwhile NAMs. Anything but Jammeh-dodger worked last time and it shall work out this time too.
Am surprise and disgusted by many, why are people always blaming lawyer Darboe. Am not a big fan of lawyer Darboe but the man deserves credit. In politics especially the national Assembly requires educated people. Age is irrelevant, tell me how many NAMS currently serving have degrees, ZERO. What we need is to urge the government to outlaw the APRC party. Every Gambian should be yearning for this. Let’s forget about tribal politics and unite as Gambians. And please refrain from reading PA Nderry’s newspaper, he wants to divide us. Why can’t he now go back to Gambia and serve his nation or set up a business. I understand it wasn’t condusive for him when yaya was there but Yaya is gone. You cannot sit in Europe and America and try to run a government in Gambia. I think Barrow should focus on how to fix problems that listening to some stupid Comments from people
Mose and Kemo, the same stupid comments were being entertain during the Jammeh regime and Pa Nderry was being celebrated as a patriot of Gambian liberation. Why change heart, We need to be genuine in our comments. Pa will report any atom of what is going on in the Gambia good or bad , favourable to the coalition nor not, After all, one good turn deserves another.
Guys, the fact is the fact, Why did they opt jump of the Coalition. There would not have been any victory in the Gambia by a Coalition had Daboe not been jailed. Thats. the hard fact. Many attempts have been tried and he was the main barrier?
“This blaming is a detracting ploy” (kemo) seems to be invalid, are the APRC member present while the coalition members are choosing their candidates ?
“I think Barrow should focus on how to fix problems that listening to some stupid Comments from people” (mose) . You think, but i am sure fixing the problems(Which you know best) cannot be solved by intolerant and defensive compatriots. Nelson Mandela was the most brutalized person in African political history and yet he was tolerant and selfless, any person or people likening Him to so called Gambia Politicians we see hiding in Embassies is a fallacy
PA Nderry will be read, what laws will you enact to deny any one of his right /choice read his paper when other same papers are being openly viewed?
I don’t have problems with any media house. Anyone can publish what you want.
I am just answering to the accusations directed at Darboe for which he has not influenced. Hence I showcased my own district as an example of the dilemma of selecting a candidate from numerous aspirants. These challenges would be the same even if coalition independent model was chosen. It will be even chaotic because acceptance of selection would be fragile. In our case acceptance is achieved because everyone is aware that a major party is behind the nominee. So anyone going against the selection will be seen as a rebel and remain an independent in future. So party discipline did indeed help to quell any form destructive disgruntling.
Silly, simplistic and undemocratic comments coming from those who request the disbanding of the APRC. The Neo-Nazi party in Germany was not disbanded, inspite of what the party’s past records were. It’s the people who should disband a party by gradually avoiding the party’s plans and programmes but not from a government promulgation which tantamounts to UNDEMOCRATIC ideals and actions.
The APRC will exist and there is nothing, expect the ordenation of the Almighty Allah(SWT), that would stop the party from active and responsible political participation. The determination is alreday there. With over 230,000 votes that President Jammeh acquired alone, do your silly heads still believe that the party is dwindling? The recent tours and rallies show that state of determination. We’ll die for the Gambia.
You see how you the bitty “coalition” enablers and surrogates can easily put your panties down at the word of an opposition, much more the APRC! LOL.
There can never be true democratic participation and engagement unless we accept and digest divergent ideologies and trends.
Your bitty “coalition” has no sensible/tangible programme for our country except to dish out public office to tribal and buddy relationships. The truth of their emergence is gradually coming to surface and Gambians, who are well versatile in politics, are getting disgusted and will eventually flush them out of office!
LONG LIVE THE SINGLE MOST CONSOLIDATED PARTY, THE APRC!
Disbanding aprc is rumour. Nobody will do that because it is not necessary. The party will not survive or at best remain a fringe actor predominantly in areas like Foni or some parts of serrekunda. Jammeh has nailed the coffin of aprc. In my district the nam for aprc is NOT even standing to contest re-election. Your rhetoric, am afraid, will not change these facts on the ground. A revival of aprc will only be possible through the invasion of the Gambia by the Casamance rebel forces.
Kinteh,
Do you still hold that nightmare of an imminent Cassamance resistance movement invasion? You are unprogressive and vile. Why that necessity?
The APRC will play its card in the political scenery with responsibility and cohesiveness. It has already put up her candidates and will fight hard to stay put. That’s the most important. Not your fear of the Cassamance Resistance Movement, which has its problems to resolve with the Macky Sall government.
It doesn’t matter where its acts predominantly, as long as it acts in The Gambia, it’s OK!
I don’t have any nightmares about rebels at our southern border. I just don’t see how aprc can pull-off a comeback through the ballot box, keeping in mind the extent of marginalisation he perpetuated against a sizeable voting block of the country. You just need to air his mandinka bashing on grts or radio to deny him vote from the mandinka population. You may find me vile. But Jammeh started it and I bet any politician projecting an antipathy towards the mandinkas and at the same time need their vote, is infact day dreaming. I see you following the path of jammeh. He was lucky being in sheep’s clothing for so long. I guess it is clear that after kukoi and Jammeh, such experiments are over.
APRC has no reason to be banned since the so-called coalition is heading towards collision.Infact no one has the right to ban a party under a democracy and whether you like it or not we are going to vote en-masse for APRC.
No one can ban the APRC since, the so-called coalition is heading towards collision.Infact no one has the right to ban a party under a democracy and whether you like it or not we are going to vote en-masse for APRC.
What is the APRC?
ASSOCIATION of
PERVERTED and
RUTHLESS
CRIMINALS!
Frast, i like your definition of APRC. It is a very apt name for them
Kinteh(Kemo),
You are a toddler in politics. I have been in Gambian politics for decades. Politics is ups and downs, right and left, twist and turn and any other facets you can or can’t imagine.
I know almost all the present bitty “coalition” figures and……….
it amazes me to see Dembo By Force shaking hands with OJ, those bitterest of enemies in the 70s and 80s,
it amazes me to see Ousainou Darbo dialoguing with Hamat Bah or Sedia Jatta, those antagonists to the teeth,
it amazes me to see Mai Fatty and Halifa Sallah in the same bandwagon,
it amazes me to see Demba Jawo and some of the Barrow ministers sitting and sharing with other “coalition” members.
Isn’t that the trait and trend of politics?
Who believed Macky Sall will oppose Abdoulie Wade, a man who paid his fees right to university, made him prime minister and later parted with him? Isn’ t that politics.
I have seen a lot political fates which has made me learn a lot and persevere. It’s just determination!
If you think the APRC is finished, you know very little about politics, Kinteh(Kemo).
The above parties respectively personalities listed, haven’t left behind a comparable terrible legacy. That is the difference. Tell us how Jammeh or aprc will reconcile with the mandinka population aprc threatened with annihilation or at best deportation? Votes exclusively from the other ethnic groups would not be enough. I say this because it is a cardinal principle, no matter how difficult the situation, to target an ethnic group regardless of it’s size. Ask Hitler or the hutu of Rwanda.
Only political party with good future is GDC because the coalition is failing , and APRC still active like or not , and UDP need strong leadership Mr Darboe should go for the interest of the party
=peace# who is the APRC party leader???
With only 43 % of the total votes between seven political parties? There is nothing to say yet there’s no favorites for now wevwill see from the next election, and each party will know their destination ,
Kinteh(Kemo),
You are just chiding with the Mandinka vertuoso which is pointless. The APRC was more Mandinka than any political party and it still remains so. When the Mandinkas insult, they will be insulted inspite of their size and influence. They have to remind themselves that the Gambia is not a Mandinka BANKO no does it belong to the MandinKOLU. The Gambia is multiethnic, and any party that slides exclusively on the Madinka ticket to control or dominate the Gambia will crumble.
Allah(SWT) has ordained the diversity in the Gambia.
If you believe in your Mandinka-Ness, Kinteh Kemo, to believe that the Gambia and any political party per se has to dance to the exclusive Mandinka tune, you are then becoming foolhardy.
What good legacies have the PPP and other defunct parties left as historic relics? When you enumerate them, I will tell you the adverse side of those parties some of whom ruled the Gambia for 30+ years.
Babu Soli
He/She who play with fire surely get burned. As you’ve just said that the APRC is more Mandinka than any other political party show what we Mandinkas are all about. Even though we have the size and the influence,we still the biggest supporters of a political party that is hijacked by certain tribe to further their tribal dominance in all spheres of our lives. And let me make this clear to you and those peddlers of tribal hatred that whoever insults the Mandinkas as a politician or private citizen should know that the same fate awaited them as that of the fallen Kanilai monster, who was sent packing with his tail between his legs.
We never assume that Gambia is a Mandinka BANKO but we are the king makers of this country and that fact remains today, tomorrow and the day after. We will always give a hand of friendship to all irrespective of tribe, but we will never again allow our elders to be insulted by anybody. We have the political maturity and capital to build a fair and progressive society hand in hand with any tribe, but we refuse to be insulted nor will we insult any.So you hate mongers going around in circles with your false prophecies, twisted and fabricated lies to set our country ablaze will fail and fail miserably.
Long Live Barrow and his government
Long Live the tribal harmony of our homeland.
I don’t have any mandinka-Ness in me. You will be surprised that I have a multi-ethnic upbringing. From age of 3 till today, I haven’t lived in a predominantly mandinka community. Notwothstanding my analysis still stands. The legacy of jammeh and aprc is tarnished for good. Only a military insurrection or invasion from casamance can revive Jammeh or aprc. Just look at Nianija where seedy njie is fighting it out with a former aprc-nam. Without that video or audio of Jammeh in that infamous talinding Mandinka eradication Declaration, and as you rightly outlined, mandinka’s would remain divided over him. But with the genius out of the bottle and now accessible to the average grandpa in the Kiang’s, Badibu’s and Kombo’s , do you think any body will look beyond that threat and still admire Jammeh or aprc?
But my question to you is this. Did you condone jammeh’s talinding declaration? If yes, can you elaborate on the thinking behind that declaration and why the Jola or any other ethnic group would find the Declaration a necessity? I am really curious because I want to understand the mindset and the motivation behind Jammeh’s hatred and whether it is grounded on a reciprocal sociocultural discrimination.
Good governance , Barrow gives back and block to Sarahuleh community in Paris , more than 6 million sarahules lives in Paris !!! Warning for the whole sarahuleh community that voted for UDP . Not surprises,Total contempt & disrespect Shame!!
Kinteh(Kemo)/Natty Dread,
The two Mandinkas riding on the Mandinka conundrum
I would have slotted the voice recording reciprocal Jammeh insults which were justified by a Mandinka woman from the Kombos( around the coast, Brufut, Sukuta, Tanji, Gunjur…….according to her intonation) on line if I have access. I’ll search the recording on YouTube and if available, give you the line.
That woman said it was the Mandinkas that started the humiliating insults which incensed President Jammeh’s anger, thus his reciprocal insults. As a head of state, I didn’t condone his response to such stupid provocations, but as a person, his tempers were far beyond his emotional control, so he responded the way he did.
Do you condone the Mandinkas villification of all other tribes as Suruwa Ndingo, Jola Ndingo, Sarahule Ndingo, Manjaki Ndingo, Fulandingo, Manswanka Ndingo(my tribe)……? Over the years I have heard a lot of insults proferred on other tribes by the Mandinkas which show how that tribe can be easily agitated into offensive and abusive forms of resolving matters.
You are lying that you are king makers. King makers are the diversed Gambian tribes.
If Barrow genuinely won the elections, it was on the diverse political groupings and his multiethnic background.
Babu, with respect you know it is not true that Mandinkas saying Suruwa Ndingo, Jola Ndingo, Sarahule Ndingo, Manjaki Ndingo, Fulandingo, Manswanka Ndingo is meant as an insult. You seem to have conveniently omit the fact that Mandinkas also refer to their own elders as Kebbandingo and Musukebbandingo. It is no different to Wollofs adding Njie to many names like Banjul Njie, Gaindeh Njie and so forth. Yayha just wanted to insult Mandinkas for no reason other than hatred. Babu, please try and remain objective. You know fully well that most people in the Gambia during Jammeh’s time will say anything to placate him. So trying to give credence to some sycophant supporter saying that Jammeh was provoked by Mandinkas is the least i expect from you. What was Yahya’s excuse for insulting Jolas and Banjulians? Yahya was just purely being rude just for the sake of it because he knows no one will openly tell him as it is. Babu, Mandinkas have been using those words even before Yahya was born, why did he feel all of a sudden that he has to stop Mandinkas from that? Babu, the truth is Yahya has been insulting people for a long time and each time he escalates the level of insult. Mandinkas might not be king makers but they are a large voting block. Yahya has learnt this the hard way because when Mandinkas withdrew their support for him he lost the elections. Personally I was not bothered by Yahya’s insults of Mandinkas because he has not spared his own tribe from his rudeness. It is the violent threats against Mandinkas that I cannot fathom. Yahya was the president of the whole country, therefore everyone’s security was his responsibility but he thinks it was okay to threaten to kill people because they happen to dislike him or he doesn’t like certain sayings in their language. Here is a man who was asked and encouraged by Mandinka elders to contest elections as a civilian in 1996. And since then Mandinkas have stood by him as the past four elections demonstrate, yet he chooses to demonized Mandinkas. Babu you have said it yourself, that APRC is more Mandinka than any other Party, so what was the justification in insulting them?
Buba Sanyang,
I don’t in anyway share your analysis of the NDING suffix or may I say acronym attached to tribes which the Mandinkas use in their references. It was and still is a deceptive use of the suffix when affixed to tribal names. Unlike it’s affixation to proper nouns which only reflects the social strata of the person(s) concerned( Kebbandingo/Musukebbadingo), the use of NDINGO by the Mandinkas on tribes was/is to show their anger, abhorrence or deception of the tribe in question.
I was born in one of the most inclusive Mandinka areas where the language has never come under any exterior influence and/or intrusion, The URR/CRR. When I speak Mandinka, my listeners never distinguish my tribe by my spoken expressions. I may say, I speak perfect Mandinka. Not only in lexis and structure but with hardcore proverbial usages.
I’m not trying to villify the Mandinkas, but the contrary is, the use of GAINDE by the Wollof indicates the Wollofs’ appreciation of a person which as it stands is never affixed to TRIBES but to individuals!
May I reiterate again, that President Jammeh’s insults of the Mandinkas was/is not anything to condone, given his status and even though he wasn’t a high profile figure, there is nothing to warrant insults of individuals, tribes, religions…….
But, Buba, didn’t you read/heard how President Jammeh, his mother, father, wife, children, entire family, the Jolas were subjected to the most vituperative language over 22 years? How can one withstand such language?
Babu, like you, I have never and will never condone anyone using politics to spew vitriol. You will recall that I was the first one to ask you and Natty to clean up your language when things got heated up between you two. I have mixed tribal blood like many other Gambians so I do not see tribe. I only see a person’s competence to do a task assigned to them. Babu like i said in my earlier contribution, I was not bothered by Jammeh’s insult of Mandinkas because he has consistently insulted others as well. In fact the first tribe he insulted were the Jolas. However his threatening words still send shivers down my spine. For a president to publicly threaten to kill people cannot be justified in any way. His threats make any insults directed at him and his family look pale in comparison. Those threats and his propensity for violence have put Jammeh in the league of psychopathic despots like Hitler, Mussolini and Pol Pot.
Let’s put all members of the APRC who commited crimes put into jail and then see if anyone is left free.
