Police in the Gambia have ordered the immediate closure of all entertainment venues in the country.
The police Anti-Crime Unit said the order is aimed at preventing the spread of Coronavirus in the country.
In a letter to bar, night club and brothel owners, police warned that failure to comply with the order will result “to forceful closure and court action.”
The Gambia has one confirmed case of Coronavirus but authorities have strengthened measures to prevent the disease from spreading.
All public and private schools including universities and local Islamic schools have been temporarily closed for 21 days.
Authorities have also suspended all international and local conferences, workshops and seminars as well as strengthened surveillance at the airport and at various points of entry along the Gambian border.
