The Office of the President this week received communications from the Office of the Clerk of the National Assembly regarding issues tabled by the Barrow administration during its Second Ordinary sittings on 15th and 16th June 2020.
The Assembly has considered and ratified an additional loan agreement between the Republic of The Gambia and the Saudi Development Fund for the Rehabilitation and Development of the Banjul International Airport Project Phase II, amounting to 45 Million Saudi Riyals. It also passed the Oral Ministerial Statement on the implementation and monitoring of the Annual budget.
On Defence, the long standing agreement between the Republic of The Gambia and the Republic of Turkey on Cooperation in Military field of training, techniques and science signed in 1991, and the amendment on the Protocol No.1 on the said agreement signed in 2012 have been approved.
Furthermore, the implementation Protocol regarding financial assistance and Financial Cooperation agreement between the two countries signed in 2019, have also been scrutinized and ratified by the National Assembly.
Meanwhile, President Barrow has been updated on the outcome of the consultation processes to address the land conflicts and disputes in the Kombos, which took place between his Office and representatives of Kombo Yiriwa Kafo, a Civil Society Association established to promote the development of the Kombos and its people.
The objectives of the consultations are to bring peaceful resolution to the land disputes in the Kombos by exhausting all legal procedures to ensure justice prevails.
