President Barrow Named Gambian Of The Year

President Adama Barrow of the Gambia was Thursday named Gambian of the Year by the independent newspaper, The Standard.

Lamin Cham, editor-in-chief of The Standard said the award was given to the president for winning a second of office.

President Barrow was declared winner in the December 4th presidential election by the country’s electoral commission which said he received around 53% of the vote while nearest rival Ousainou Darboe got 28%.

In receiving the award at State House,  President Barrow expressed appreciation and honour for the recognition.

He said the award will encourage him to do more for country.

He added: “I want a good legacy for me and the country. I thank the management and staff of Standard Newspaper for the award”.

The president thanked his ministers and civil servants for supporting him in the last five years and urged them to continue the support.
