Former managing director of The Point newspaper Philip Kotey is on Tuesday expected to render his testimony in the ongoing criminal proceedings against him.
The IGP sometime this year slapped Mr. Kotey with two-count charges of stealing D2,734,000.00 and a motor vehicle from his employer.
The vehicle was valued at D200,000.
Mr. Kotey joined The Point in 2005 as a financial adviser.
This was immediately after the assassination of the paper’s most respected and brave managing editor and publisher Mr. Deyda Hydara.
Meanwhile almost five years after the death of Mr. Hydara, The Point newspaper started to struggle with salaries as staff were not paid on time.
Some former staff of the paper such as production assistant Amadou Bah were contemplating legal challenge against the newspaper.
Sources also informed JollofNews that Philip Kotey was also contemplating a legal action against The Point when he was dragged to the police by the paper.
He’s expected at the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court tomorrow to give his evidence.
