Presidential adviser Dou Sanno has asserted that since farmers were “abusing the cheap fertilizer” supplied to them in the last cropping season, the government decided to teach them a lesson this time around.
The presidential adviser told Star FM this morning that some Gambian farmers were “profiteering” from the relatively cheap fertilizer price of 2021 by selling the input across the other side of the border (Senegal).
“Since they refused to make the best of the cheap fertilizer price last year, we decided to significantly increase the price this time around,” Sano told host Kawsu Badjie.
