Bakary Badjie, the Minister of Youth and Sport of Gambia, addressed the Summit of the Future, emphasizing the importance of this event as a unique opportunity for transformative change.
He noted that the Summit provides a platform to commit to bold new solutions aimed at creating international mechanisms that are reflective of 21st-century realities.
These mechanisms must be capable of addressing current and future challenges and seizing opportunities for global progress.
Badjie highlighted the collective responsibility of the global community to set a better course for the world. By working together, he stressed, it is possible to achieve a future that is safer, more peaceful, just, equal, inclusive, sustainable, and prosperous.
The General Assembly opened the meeting by adopting the Pact for the Future Resolution, which includes key annexes such as the Global Digital Compact and the Declaration on Future Generations.
These documents form the foundation for the commitments being made to address emerging global issues.
