Senegal has once again showcased their prowess in African youth football by winning the 2025 U20 WAFU A Qualifying Championship.
In a decisive 2-0 victory against Sierra Leone, held at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Complex in Liberia, the Young Lions secured not only the regional title but also a place in the 2025 U20 Africa Cup of Nations.
Senegal took control early in the match, with Cheikh Tidiane Thiam scoring in the 13th minute, followed by a spectacular halfway-line lob by Ibrahima Dieng just ten minutes later.
Despite Sierra Leone’s attempts to mount a comeback, Senegal’s defence, led by Coach Serigne Saliou Dia, remained solid, ensuring a clean sheet.
This triumph marks back-to-back WAFU A titles for Senegal and highlights their growing dominance in African youth football.
Both Senegal and Sierra Leone will now prepare to compete in the 2025 U20 Africa Cup of Nations, where they will face the best emerging talents from across the continent.
