President Barrow Hails Gambia’s Friendship With The Rest Of The World

President Adama Barrow of the Gambia has reiterated the importance his administration attaches to consolidating friendship and bilateral cooperation with  all countries.

Receiving letters of credence from envoys from Romania, Brazil and  Kosovo at State House, Banjul, Mr Barrow said the Gambia is on the path of consolidating democracy, independence of the judiciary and freedom for socio-economic development.

He informed the diplomats that his administration is optimistic about the upcoming May conference with donors in Brussels on the National Development Plan 2018-2021 and urged them to support the Gambia.

Mr Barrow re-echoed that support to the country should be based on mutual benefit and respect to build a strong foundation for sustainable development.  He cited the importance of modernised agricultural practices and processing for job creation and empowerment of the citizens.  The President called on all to advocate for peace, stability and respect for diversity in bringing people together for the mutual benefit of humanity.

The Romanian ambassador, Elena Stefol, said her country will continue to support and strengthen ties with the Gambia through the European Union and bilateral cooperation.

The Brazilian ambassador, Rocha Junior, pledged to work with the Brazilian Cooperation Agency to embark on an assessment mission to map possible and concrete areas of cooperation with urgency.

He expressed regrets that an earlier cooperation in the area of animal husbandry with the Jammeh regime did not yield the desired results.

Ambassador Ramadan Ghasi of Kosovo noted the importance of diversity and respect for all in building bridges of friendship and solidarity.
