5 Gambian Communities To Benefit From Free Medical, Dental Relief

Two US based organisations, Dreams and the International Medical & Dental Relief are teaming up with the Gambia’s Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (MoH&SW  to provide free medical and dental relief to five Gambian communities.

The week-long relief programme, which runs from September 14 – 22 will be available on 16th September to communities in the Upper Niumi District namely; Sika Village, Pakau Village and Medina Sedia.

The same services will be given to communities in Foni Bondali Village on 20th September and Sanyang Village on 21st September.

The partnership between Dreams, the International Medical & Dental Relief and the Gambia’s Ministry of Health ensures cooperation and provides oversight and local knowledge for the areas and populations with the greatest needs.

During the clinics, Dreams and the International Medical & Dental Relief will partner with local medical professionals to share knowledge about diagnoses and treatment.

They will also provide community health education to empower people and enable them provide for their own health, as well as for the health of other community members.

Dreams and the International Medical & Dental Relief focuses on the treatment of acute illness, the diagnosis and referral of chronic illness, partnership with local organisations to provide mass screenings and vaccination clinics, and education in partnership with community leaders and local teachers to provide sustainable improvement of health at the community level.
