A community based youths group in Jarra Kanni-Kunda Village recently took upon themselves to construct a modern bakery house in the village.
The bakery house, one of its kind being constructed in the village by the youths group, aims to provide its communities with daily breads supplies especially during the month of Ramadan were the demand for the breads within the area is usually very high.
The communities usually find it very difficult during the month of Ramadan to get bread in the village and some families had to trek on foot all the way to Soma to find a bread sometimes.
Jakeenoto (Youths) Fulang Kafoo thought of this plights and came together as a group to ease the problem of their people’s living the community.
The bread shortage in the area is very common though. The project is fully funded by its members that are based inn the Gambia and in the diaspora.
Jakeenoto (Youth) Fulang Kafoo is indigenous youth organization based in Jarra Kanni-Kunda Village. The Association is register with Attorney General Chambers and has membership ranging from youths residing in Jarra Kanni-Kunda Village,in the Kombos and the Diaspora.
The association was established in August 2017 with the ultimate aims of improving the standard of living of its people living in the village.
Since its establishment, Jakeenoto Fulang Kafoo has carried out several activities in areas of building a modern bakery house in the village, environmental protection like (tree planting exercise), participating in the community service, kindergarten education, promoting health education, capacity building and other sectors.
The Jakeenoto Fulang Kafoo modern bakery will commenced operations in earnest by the end of March 2020 in producing fresh bread loaves, Croissants, multi-corn bread, pastries, takeaway sweet breads, Sausage rolls and other dough related products.
Jakeenoto Fulang Kafoo have achieved one of its aims and objectives as a youth group within the village by using the latest equipments such as bread slicers, mixing machines, double racks ovens, rolling stock and cooling racks. The ingredients, such as fine flour, salts, and sugar imported from USA will make the products the highest possible quality.
The association will trained and employed four youths that will be working daily in the bakery house with a monthly wages.
The association is strongly committed and dedicated to empowering its people’s within village to foster unity and mutual cooperation among the membership. The association main focus is to promotes meaningful social development and quality of life of the people living in the Kanni-Kunda Village.
