   Coronavirus: Gambia’s Standard Chartered Bank Announce Preventative Measures 

Gambia’s leading bank, the Standard Chartered has put in place proactive measures to prevent the spread of  of the coronavirus amongst staff and customers.

The Gambia is yet to register any case of the disease, which is now described by the World Health Organisation as a pandemic that has reached the shores of some of Gambia’s neighbours including Senegal.

But as the number of cases continue to rise across the continent, Europe and the US, home to many visitors to the Gambia, the bank has taken various measures to ensure the health and safety of all staff and clients at all its offices.

This includes social distancing and infection control strategies such as hand sanitizers touch points; hand washing regime guides and the deployment of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE-face mask, temperature monitors)

In January 2020, the World Health Organisation (WHO) confirmed the outbreak of the Coronavirus in China. As a result of the increasing number of confirmed cases globally and the sustained risk of further global spread, WHO has now declared COVID-19 a Pandemic.

 In an email to customers, the banks Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Olukorede Adenowo, said they will continue to engage the various government health agencies for updates .

” We are working closely with the Bank’s Health Maintenance Organisations to ensure our safety measures are effective and efficient,” he said.
