Dear God,
All is not well on earth. It is scary. There is hopelessness, desperation and death all over the place. Doctors are doing their best to save humanity; scientists are frantically trying to find a cure, or at the least a vaccine. We are groping in the dark, unsure of what the morrow will bring.
We are told this worldwide ‘pandemonium’, nay death on unimaginable scale, is caused by a virus. Imagine a thing which even the eye cannot see is what is causing all these havoc, misery, death, ill heath, desperation.
Am sure the virus is one of the smallest of your creation; or just may be human’s own creation. I don’t know but a thing smaller than a mustard seed is what has turned our world on its head. And it is the greatest ‘leveller’ or ‘equaliser’ I have known- no respecter of status, race, sex, position, power, region, age. It just treats everyone equally.
You say we should turn to you when we are in need; you who has the ‘word’. You who only says ‘Be’ and it ‘becomes’. I beseech You, the Most Merciful, the All Knowing, the Be All and End All, to show the scientists of the world the way to the cure of this virus. You are our only hope. In you we seek solace and succour.
Lest I forget, Ya Allah please minimise the effect of this virus on Africa. The prognosis by the many Cassandras out there in the lurch is not pleasing.
Our health care systems are not prepared and equipped to take on the force of this virus. We do not have the number of health care workers to take of us when the virus launches its arsenal. Even countries that boast of the best medical care and facilities are crumbling under the weight of this minute thing. And since you are the mightiest of the mightiest, please protect us from this virus.
The poor, they say, have only two things: hope and prayers. So we pray to you God. And we pin our hope on you, the Most Merciful, Most Benevolent, Most Compassionate, the Best Helper.
Your humble servant
Njundu
