When they came, they said they were soldiers with a difference. They said they were going to get things right and head back to the barracks.
That was the first lie. Yaya JAMMEH said politics is dirty. He became a politician. Then slowly he began betraying every member of his group. Killed some and imprisoned some on trumped up charges.
Slowly, he perfected the art of stealing along with Gambia’s second biggest liar and thief in Ebou Jallow who is now saying Gambia should be burnt down! Then they started going after anyone that questioned them on anything. They would kill Deyda and exile many others. Then they imposed their so-called constitution on Gambians and changed it to fit what they wanted.
They never lacked for spineless lawyers to do the dirty work for them. Then they held sham elections in 1996 in which they’d ambush UDP members and kill at least one of them. Then they killed our students and maimed some for life. More betrayals will follow. Then Yaya said he owned The Gambia.
Now you will hear some telling you they are acknowledging the “July 22nd Revolution” for the “good” it brought Gambians! These folks often start off by pretending to regret the “actions” or “mishaps” or “missteps” of the evil Yaya Jammeh regime. They minimize the theft, killings and rape of Gambians. Or they totally deny that anyone ever died in the hands of the Jammeh government.
Ask them how many of their immediate relatives Yaya killed or raped and they cannot come up with any number or they will just deny that Yaya killed a single soul.
For them, Solo Sandeng did not die in the hands of government. We remember the words of his information minister at the time. Haruna Jammeh did not die in the hands of the government.
Innocent children, as young as two and three did not die in the hands of government. It’s easy to disregard a killing if its not your family member but yet we say we are all brothers and sisters and call ourselves peaceful.
For those celebrating, none of their family members was accused of witchcraft, stripped naked and forced to drink evil concoctions leading to the death of some. So they don’t care.
None of their family members had a disease which Yaya used as an opportunity to satisfy his sadistic urges. To them, he actually can cure AIDS. They don’t care about anyone that died in the hands of government and that’s why they don’t bother speaking to any of the victims! Everyone that testified at the TRRC is lying as far as they’re concerned!
Yes, to these wicked souls, the killings and rapes and thievery are just missteps! They will continue to claim that Yaya Jammeh built roads, schools and hospitals etc! They have no issues recounting these “developments” but all the evil deeds of Yaya Jammeh are categorized under “mistakes”, “missteps” or “never happened.” They don’t care about the deaths because to them roads are more important than Gambian lives!
They claim they’re giving the devil his due! It’s lost on them that even Satan was once good but no sane individual celebrates him! It’s lost on them that no sane person goes around celebrating Hitler or Sani Abacha!
It’s lost on these folks that no sane person goes around celebrating Bokassa! It’s lost on them that the regime of a murderer should never be celebrated; if for nothing, out of respect for the victims!
A cold-blooded murderer, rapist and thief should never be celebrated for doing what he should have done as a servant of the people.
But then again, it’s easy to ignore a killing and rape if it’s not your family! It’s easier to celebrate the killer and rapist because it wasn’t your family member that was killed or raped.
The families of those whose lives were taken are not celebrating the man responsible for the death of their loved one.
The parents and family members of the innocent students who were killed will not celebrate the man that ordered their killing. And we certainly remember the unrepentant dictator enablers! You can fake the gullible ones hellbent on using you as political canon fodder but we know who you are!
By the way, if you’ve ever sent July 22nd good wishes to Yaya Jammeh using taxpayer funds, may you find it in your sycophantic heart to pay back the funds. I won’t be holding my breath deh, I’m just hoping.
And if you’ve taken part in July 22nd celebrations before, I hope you find it in your heart to know that you celebrated a day that brought untold suffering to Gambians!
We remember directors of various government offices using their offices to promote evil forcing staff to farm for Yaya and making sure they attend the nonsensical jamborees of a celebration.
People that claim to be men and women of religion but had no qualms with attending such devilish jamborees. The videos of you in the crowd as you celebrated evil abound and we can recognize your faces.
They wanted to supplant 18th February 1965 with July 22 as if our freedom from anything came about because of July 22nd. At the forefront of this lie and misinformation were the various directors of GRTS and Editors of The Observer!
Look around you, some of them have since reinvented themselves and trying to make us forget or not recognize them. But it’s not that damned dark yet!
We recognize you and we still remember your words and saw your actions in support of evil against Gambians! And those of you embracing these unrepentant characters for political gain, we see through your hypocrisy too!
May all the Victims that lost their lives in the hands of Yaya’s evil government Rest In Peace!
