Gambia’s Ruling Party Wins Local By-Election

(JollofNews) – The Gambia’s governing party, the Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC) of President Yahya Jammeh has won a local by-election held on Thursday in the Basse Area Council.

The Sare-Ngai ward election was organised by the country’s electoral commission following the death of Councillor  Ebrima Menke Barrow.

According to official results, the APRC’s  Karamo Touray, secured 1819 votes while Laloun Fatty, an independent candidate got 1064 votes.

The election was generally peaceful and there were no reports of irregularity.
