The Gambia is organising the evacuation of its citizens from the Middle East, particularly from Lebanon, due to the increasing conflict between Israeli forces and Hezbollah fighters.
The Israeli military has been carrying out airstrikes and ground operations in Lebanon, which has created dangerous conditions for foreign nationals, including Africans working and studying in the region.
The Gambian government has issued a statement urging its citizens in Lebanon to register with their honorary consulate for evacuation processing and created a WhatsApp group to facilitate communication.
The evacuation is part of a broader trend among African countries, with no reported casualties yet among the African communities affected by the conflict.
