PROs Of Coastal VDCs Issue Ultimatum To GEF PRO Over Alleged GACH Favours

The Association of PROs of Kombo South coastal VDCs has issued a 14-day ultimatum to the PRO of The Gambia Environmental Alliance (GEA), demanding that he provides proof of his “allegations” that GACH Mining has been paying salary to the VDCs of the coastal villages and providing jobs for their relatives.

The association also demanded that in the event the GEF PRO could not provide any piece of evidence, he should make a public declaration that he lied against GACH and the VDCs or else.

“Let him provide hard evidence for his allegations that GACH provided jobs for our family members and let them make available the payroll of GACH and point out the family members of the VDC members on it and how they were employed,” the association’s PRO Muhammed Sillah told Star Tv.

“We have to mention here that GACH is the only company in Kombo South that we needn’t write to request for anything because it adopted an open-door policy as far as our relationship is concerned. We cannot meet staff of certain companies here no matter how hard we try, but whenever and wherever we invite GACH, they will honour it. We did a lot together,” acknowledged Sillah.

“I want the PRO to prove or make a public declaration that what he said about our relationship with GACH is a lie or we go to court for him to prove his allegations. We will take legal action against him. I’m giving 14 days to GEA PRO about the statement he made on QTV,” he posited.

“We wrote to QTV so that we can counter the allegations but they could not give us a platform since last Thursday. This is why we chose here [Star Tv] to tell Gambians what’s happening,” said Sillah.
