The Amisurge Foundation is preparing to bring vital medical care to the community of Essau through a free surgical outreach set for mid-August. The initiative aims to improve lives by offering essential procedures to people who otherwise may not afford them.
Speaking to JollofNews, Dr. Lamin O. Beyai, Secretary of the foundation, confirmed that the upcoming camp is designed to assess and treat as many surgical cases as possible within the area.
“Our target is to operate about a hundred,” he said. “Yes, it is scary being diagnosed with a surgical condition and being told that being under the knife is the only solution, but the important part is that most of our surgeries are safe, and patients will be able to relieve themselves of the affliction after the surgery has been done.”
Dr. Beyai acknowledged that fear is a common reaction for those facing surgery but emphasized the foundation’s track record and commitment to safety. “We are happy to note that we have not received any major complications from any of the surgeries, and we are hopeful that this will continue,” he added.
The visit to Essau will also serve as an assessment mission to determine the number of patients that can be treated locally.
The foundation sees this effort not just as a medical intervention, but a way to empower individuals and restore hope in communities with limited access to surgical care.
