Manneh Vows UDP Will Resort To Courts Over Overseas ID Issue If…..

A senior figure in the Gambia’s main opposition party has vowed that the United Democratic Party (UDP) will be compelled to go down the legal route with the Gambia government if the State-sanctioned overseas issuance of national ID cards does not cease.

He explained that the UDP has been involved in extensive engagements with relevant election stakeholders over the issue.

“We will take recourse of the law if a stop is not put to this,” Manneh stated in an interview with King FM radio on Tuesday.

The UDP described the issuance of national ID cards outside the confines of The Gambia not only as illegal, but an underhand tactic by the government to rig next year’s general election in favour of the incumbent.
