NPP Confirms Death Of Party President Dembo Byforce Bodjang

The National People’s Party (NPP) has confirmed the death of its National President, Honourable Alhaji Dembo Byforce Bodjang.

In a statement issued Friday and signed by the party’s Deputy Spokesman, Seedy S.K. Njie, the NPP said Hon. Bodjang, who also served as Special Adviser on Religious Affairs to President Adama Barrow, died peacefully at midnight on Thursday, 28 August 2025, at the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital in Banjul.

The statement described the veteran politician as a man whose public life was marked by “resilience, dedication, nationalism, patriotism, and selfless service to the people.”

President Barrow paid tribute to his adviser, calling him “a true Muslim, God-fearing and selfless man who devoted his entire life to serving humanity with distinction and humility.”

Hon. Bodjang was a long-serving Member of Parliament during both the First and Second Republics and was widely respected for his truthfulness and commitment to national duty.

According to the NPP, funeral arrangements will be announced later.
