Sabally Calls For Unity  & Accountability At Ghana Town Meeting

The National Youth President of the National People’s Party (NPP), Momodou Sabally, has urged Gambians to embrace unity and accountability while commending President Adama Barrow’s leadership.

Speaking at a community gathering in Ghana Town, Sabally reminded the audience of their shared identity, saying: “We are all Gambians here, and we are all Africans.” He described The Gambia as home to “Africa’s most peaceful president” and praised the country’s youth for their dynamism.

Sabally highlighted what he called President Barrow’s accessibility, noting that the head of state responds to letters within a week, even those submitted at the State House gate. “He is the people’s president, who is here to serve the interest of the young people of the Republic of The Gambia,” he told the gathering.

He accused some figures in the private sector of being “the kings of corruption” and alleged that they sponsor protests against the Barrow administration. Sabally questioned why demonstrators do not target those who purchased the assets of former president Yahya Jammeh, insisting that their identities are well known.

The NPP youth leader also cited ongoing government projects, including road construction, school development, and improvements in water and electricity supply, as evidence of progress under Barrow’s leadership.

In his address, Sabally recalled a moment from the political transition in 2016, recounting advice given to Barrow by the late Dembo “By Force” Bojang. According to him, Bojang encouraged Barrow to include his own name among potential flagbearers for the United Democratic Party at the time when Ousainou Darboe and other party leaders were in prison.

The event concluded with calls for unity and shared responsibility as Gambians continue to debate the direction of national politics.
