(JollofNews) – The Vice President of the Gambia and minister for Women’s Affairs, Isatou Njie-Saidy, will Wednesday afternoon address the 71st session of the General Assembly in New York.
Ms Njie-Saidy who is accompanied by other senior government officials will highlight some of the achievements of the Millennium Development Goals that the Gambia has achieved and need to scale up resources by enhancing the global partnerships to further improve the critical link between success and failure on the achievement of Millennium Development Goals.
The Vice President will also appeal for a further extension of the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) Debt Initiative to enable the ability of developing countries to attain sustainable growth.
She will also use her address to call for more dialogue in finding lasting solution to conflicts between Israel and Palestine, Syria and South Sudan. She will reiterate the Gambia’s readiness to contribute meaningfully to the settlement of these conflicts.
Ms Njie-Saidy is no stranger to the UN General Assembly. She has previously addressed the 66th,67th and 70th session of the world body.
