The UDP’s chairman for North Bank Region (NBR) Alhaji Sainey Sabally has issued an order for the immediate removal of two UDP grassroots officials from the party’s regional chat group for their suspected ties to the estranged former UDP organising secretary Talib Bensouda.
“This is an order from the regional chairman that Sait Joof be removed from the [UDP NBR] chat group today. Modou Marr should also be removed from the forum,” stated Sabally in an audio address to the UDP’s NBR grassroots officials.
According to him, he got word from Modou Marr that he [Marr] will write a letter today to resign from the party [UDP]. “And what I indicated to him is that he should surrender all the party assets under his custody,” the UDP NBR chair pointed out.
Mr. Sabally explained that he had telephoned Marr to tell him that his and Sait’s unpredictability has become too much.
“From today, remove these two people from the forum. Munir Jammeh, as the admin, expunge their numbers from the forum [chat group] and tell whosoever asks you that the order came from the regional chairman,” he stressed, adding that: “The joke is over. Whoever is turning your back to…We have nothing to do with you in relation to the party. Anybody, who wishes to resign, can do so and surrender our positions. We are not at all scared of your exit. But we know each other here and we were all born here and it’s here that we groomed all of you in that party [UDP]. We know your way of life and we are not in any doubt about your modus operandi and ins and outs in the North Bank and the entire country. We, the elderly, are sitting and watching you.”
Mr. Modou Marr was the UDP’s deputy admin secretary in the NBR and Sait Joof; the former admin secretary in the region.
Mr. Sabally has meantime replaced Modou Marr with Borry Touray with effect from Sunday.
“Sait Joof is done with the UDP. Modou Marr is gone,” Mr. Sabally announced.
