NPP Reasserts Strength, Rallies Diaspora For Unity & Support

The National People’s Party (NPP) is intensifying its outreach to Gambians abroad, urging unity and financial support as it faces what it calls a critical political period. The party’s Diaspora Secretary, Hon. Maimuna Ceesay-Darboe, delivered an impassioned address to supporters, acknowledging the growing strength of the opposition while insisting that NPP remains the stronger and more capable force.

“The oppositions are organising, they are vocal, they are determined,” she said. “But so are we, and we have the records, the leadership, and the people.”

Hon. Ceesay-Darboe called on Gambians in the diaspora to see themselves as active participants in shaping the country’s future, not distant observers. “Every dalasi, every dollar spent here is for your children,” she said. “Use your platforms to counter falsehoods, promote the agenda of the NPP government, and encourage your friends to join politics. It is a duty of national call.”

She described the diaspora as a vital part of both the party’s structure and the nation’s progress. “You, our brothers and sisters in the diaspora, are more than just observers of our democratic process; you are a critical pillar in the development of our party and our nation,” she said. “Whether you are in Europe, Asia, America, or anywhere across Africa, your voice, your commitment, and your resources continue to serve the destiny of The Gambia. You are representatives as Gambians in the diaspora a bridge between global experience and national aspirations. You are ambassadors of the National People’s Party (NPP), defenders of democracy, progress, and solidarity.”

She said the gathering was not only about strengthening party unity but also about reaffirming collective purpose. “Today we are here not only to unite as patriots and members of the National People’s Party but to mobilise resources, renew our resolve, and focus on our representative for one vision in order to secure victory for our party, advancing the agenda of a better, strong, and prosperous Gambia.”

Hon. Ceesay-Darboe clarified that the fundraising drive was about more than money, framing it as a show of shared responsibility and investment in the nation’s future. “The fundraising is not only about money; it is about commitment, responsibility, and investment in the future,” she said. “Every contribution made sends a strong signal that the diaspora stands firmly with the vision of His Excellency President Adama Barrow and the continued success of the National People’s Party.”

Highlighting NPP’s record since its formation, she positioned the party as a stabilising force that has delivered peace and progress under President Barrow’s leadership. She credited his administration with safeguarding good governance, strengthening infrastructure, advancing healthcare and education reform, empowering women and youth, and attracting foreign investments to create jobs and boost economic growth.

“These are not just opportunities but proof a testament of what we can do when a visionary leader meets with a guided focus and a mobilised force,” she affirmed.

Looking ahead, Hon. Ceesay-Darboe urged members to sustain the same energy and resolve that carried the party to previous victories. “Let us remember the same energy we worked with for our last victory must be renewed to convert our gains, fight misinformation, and defeat any force that wishes to derail our national development.”

Acknowledging the competition, she ended on a note of unity and determination. “Let’s stay united, let’s stay focused, and let’s be proud as members of NPP. Together we can build The Gambia we all deserve,” she concluded.
