Twelve influential politicians from the North Bank Region (NBR) have declared their endorsement of Lawyer Ousainou Darboe as the United Democratic Party’s (UDP) flagbearer in next year’s presidential election.
Leading the group is former Kerewan Area Council chairman, Mr. Malamin I. L. Bojang, who, along with 11 other UDP members who contested in the last local government elections, pledged their unwavering support for the veteran opposition leader.
The endorsement comes barely two weeks after more than 20 councillors from the West Coast Region publicly announced their backing for Hon. Darboe, signaling growing momentum within the party ahead of the 2026 polls.
Mr. Bojang and his colleagues praised Darboe’s long-standing commitment to democracy, good governance, and national unity, describing him as the most experienced and capable candidate to lead The Gambia forward.
The UDP leader, who has been at the forefront of the country’s opposition politics for over three decades, continues to command significant grassroots support as the party prepares to contest for the presidency once again.
