Jammeh Grants Blanket Amnesty To Expelled APRC Members

Founder and the Supreme Leader of the Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC) has announced a general pardon for all individuals he previously expelled from his faction of the party.

Former ppresident Yahya Jammeh announced the move as he renewed his commitment to return to The Gambia from exile in Equatorial Guinea ahead of the next election cycle.

In an audio message obtained by JollofNews, Jammeh extended an olive branch, stating that “the door is open to anyone wishing to return,” including those who had voluntarily resigned from the party.

While inviting former loyalists back into the fold, the former Gambian strongman said he “cannot vouch reinstatement to previous positions” for those who chose to “desert”.

Jammeh outlined specific conduct that would not be tolerated upon their return, focusing heavily on issues of integrity and respect.

“What will not be accepted,” he noted, “is insulting people’s mothers.”

The exiled leader also warned against “false accusations,” claiming that there are Gambian laws prohibiting such acts. The exiled former Gambian ruler said he will not accept false accusations.

Jammeh underlined that internal wrangling and insults are unacceptable, describing the behaviour as “unIslamic.”

“Insulting each other is unIslamic and whoever thinks that from now on I will accept people insulting each other, you are in the wrong place,” he cautioned.

The former president also challenged party members to be seized with making tangible contributions rather than directing their energy to internal disputes or “big talk”.

He dismissed claims of widespread expulsions during his tenure, asserting that “the issue of having many people in the executive has never happened in the APRC during my 22-year rule in The Gambia.”

Jammeh greeting his supporters

Jammeh disclosed that future responsibility within the party would be tied directly to recruitment efforts.

“The number of people you are able to bring to the party is the criterion we are going to use, but big talk and no action will result in you having no responsibility,” he warned.

Jammeh concluded his message by calling for unity and reconciliation within the APRC, particularly urging those in the diaspora to note that “he has fogiven all” and wants the party to reconcile “as a family”.
