(JollofNews) – A Gambian woman from Baddibu Suwareh Kunda is recovering in hospital after she was repeatedly stabbed by an unidentified male on her way to the rice field.

Naba Jamba was said to have been severely beaten and stabbed last week in a random and unprovoked attack.

The identity of her attacker is not known but eye-witnesses said he was wearing a green t-shirt resembling those worn by supporters of the ruling APRC party.

After the attack, Naba was found in a pool of her own blood by fellow villagers, who took her to Kerewan Health Centre where she was admitted and later transferred to the AFPRC Hospital in Farafenni.

“The attack has shocked everyone in the village and we are still trying to piece together what really happened,” said a female resident who contacted JollofNews.

“Since the attack all the women in the village are terrified of going to their rice fields. We are in the harvest season and we are appealing for improved security in the area.”
