The passionate call that senior NPP figure Maimuna Ceesay made to the governing party with a view to galvanizing party support against key NPP figure Seedy Njie has apparently fallen on deaf ears.
The nominated member of the House and top ruling party figure last weekend released a fiery audio recording, calling on the NPP to come out and condemn, in the strongest possible terms, the utterances of tribal nature attributed to Njie.
Njie’s remarks in a leaked audio that he influenced President Barrow to rescind his decision to promote two Mandinkas to top government jobs was described in many quarters as persecution and a glaring indication of “hate” against the country’s largest ethnic group.
Maimuna Ceesay came out strongly to dismiss the deputy speaker’s remarks not only as bluff, but also an attempt to create an aura of importance and respectability around himself.
She also described the utterances as condemnable.
“We should all condemn what Seedou Njie said,” Mrs. Ceesay urged the NPP executive and rank and file.
However, it would appear Mrs. Ceesay had started a lone battle against the NPP bigwig as the drum of “war” of condemnation that she beat against Njie has yet to whip up and galvanize the incumbent and his party into issuing a chorus of condemnation.
At the time of this post, neither President Barrow nor the NPP made any public condemnation of the NPP top official’s widely-criticized words.
