Bell Company’s Beverage Prices Soar Amid Essential Commodity Price Volatility

Retail prices of Bell Bottling Company’s manufactured beverages have jumped by D5 at a time when The Gambia Government appears to have lost handle on commodity prices.

Meanwhile, a long queue of medicines buyers was observed at the Banjul Pharmacy just a spitting distance from the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital on Monday as the country’s main referral hospital’s pharmacies reportedly struggled with depletion of essential medicines.

The Barrow administration sometime this year astronomically increased hospital ticket fees from D25 to D100 without any public announcement.

The increase in retail prices of Bell’s beverages came in the backdrop of soaring transport fares that have been hitting the population hard in the pocket.

Meat and fish prices have already spiralled out of the reach of the man in the street.
