The National Organising Secretary of the ruling National People’s Party (NPP) and Presidential Political Adviser, Dou Sanno, has demanded that National Assembly Member for Foni Kansala, Hon. Almamy Gibba, retract allegations accusing him of misappropriating GMD10 million and improperly acquiring a tractor.
Sanno made the demand in a video message shared with JollofNews on Wednesday, in which he strongly rejected the allegations and challenged the lawmaker to provide evidence or withdraw the claims and apologise.
“You accused me of stealing 10 million. I am therefore calling on you to come forward and apologise for that allegation,” Sanno said.
He added that if Gibba believed the allegation was true, he should provide evidence and pursue the matter through the courts so that the facts surrounding the alleged GMD10 million could be established.
“If you believe your accusation is true, then provide the evidence and take me to court so that they can establish the facts about how I obtained that 10 million you are talking about. If not, I expect you to withdraw the statement and apologise,” Sanno said.
The presidential adviser also addressed allegations concerning a tractor, rejecting claims that it had been improperly allocated to him.
“Regarding the tractor, your claim that it was given to me improperly is simply not true. The tractor was given to me by the appropriate authorities,” he said.
Sanno urged the lawmaker to verify information with the relevant authorities before making accusations publicly.
His comments come amid heightened political tensions in Foni, where political differences between rival camps have increasingly featured in public exchanges.
While acknowledging the existence of political disagreements, Sanno said political rivalry should not descend into personal attacks, defamation or attempts to damage individuals’ reputations.
“Hon. Almamy, we can disagree politically without destroying each other’s reputation. Let us debate issues, present facts, and allow the people to judge us by our actions,” he said.
Sanno further maintained that public officials should be judged by their conduct, integrity and contribution to public service rather than personal insults or political attacks.
He reiterated his willingness to engage in political debate but warned that he would defend his reputation against what he considers unfounded allegations.
