Gambia: Hackers Takes The Fight To President Jammeh

Hackers have uploaded a picture of Adama Barrow on the State House website

(JollofNews) – Unknown hackers have taken down President Yahya Jammeh’s State House website shortly after the Gambian leader  made another surprised televised statement that he has rejected the results of December 1st elections.

No one has claimed responsibility but the hackers have uploaded a picture of Adama Barrow, who was declared winner by the country’s electoral commission with the message “ President-Elect Adama Barrow, Republic of The Gambia – Office of The President – The State House.  A luta continua, vitória é certa”.

A similar message is posted on the pro-government Daily Observer newspaper, which is also down.

Tension is high in the Gambia after Mr Jammeh accused the electoral commission of rigging the elections and called for fresh elections to be presided over by “God-fearing people”.

Mr Jammeh, 51, who have ruled the Gambia for 22 years, had initially conceded defeat and praised the country’s electoral system as “the most transparent election in the whole world,” adding that he would not contest the result.

Final results by the electoral commission said Mr Barrow secured 227, 708 votes representing 43 per cent of the general votes while Mr Jammeh secured 208, 487 votes representing 40 per cent of the votes.

But Mr Jammeh later accused the electoral commission of committing serious errors which undermined the outcome of the final results.

Meanwhile, the regional group ECOWAS has indefinitely suspended its mission to the Gambia.

The chair of the body, President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf of Liberia was to have been joined by Sierra Leone’s Ernest Bai Koroma to visit the country on Saturday “to pacify” the situation.

  1. The rejection of election result by president Jammeh after accepting defeat with strong allegations of errors by the country ‘s Electoral Commission is subject to thorough investigation to prove the allegations beyond all reasonable doubt.
However, democracy in its sense is two sides of a coin. We live to see the outcome of president Jammeh ‘s recent decision and recommendation for fresh presidential election by God-fearing people.

  2. Hi ,
    Jollofnews
I trust you please inform Adama Barrow ,that let his government set commission now now to link with Guinea Conakery and other countries where Jammeh,s 50 people went to ,to arrest them all ,and take them to law .

And the big thing is that to arrest Jammeh himself ,because we get clear info that he is saying at anytime ECOWAS leave Gambia he would pay big money to Gambia national army to kill president Barrow .So please tell Barrow extend the ECOWAS mandate until in next 3 years
