Where’s the doctrine of ” my word is my bond” gone to? Most politicians are like weather. By morning they’re calm, by day, they become windy, in the afternoon, they’re sunny, evening time, they become cloudy, raining, and snowing. Not withstanding, there’re some that are genuinely real in their actions and measured for the greater good of Gambians. This brings me to honor, decency, credibility, trust, and interest lobbying at the behest of poor taxpayers.
Essa Mbye Faal joining NPP is not the problem but all the stern condemning he’s made towards the party describing them as notorious violators of Gambians and the constitution we uphold so dearly.
So one could profile Essa Faal’s joining NPP as “what’s in it for me” but not to impact the lives and livelihoods of Gambians, but rather predominantly to be the successor of Adama Barrow, eying the chief justice position, minister of justice, or a vice president.
However, this will bring a rift and numerous infightings between militants of the NPP as a party. We all know that Essa Faal has no strong political base in the country and all he needs to do is to join NPP to continue paying his bills because he’s damn broke. He’s not what Gambians thought he was in-terms of self sufficiency and sustainability.
But now what can Essa Faal change in the Barrow hegemony since he’s an insider? I would like to see respect for the rule of law, personal freedom of speech, and personal liberties of citizens. In addition to this corruption needs to be attacked with vigilance to ensure that the government respects human rights and security sector reforms, while removing the public order act. If these things aren’t addressed, Essa Faal will be going into Barrow hegemony to just be a salary taker while forgetting about what he has been criticizing them for!
Slowly but surely, sooner rather than later, Gambians will find out the true nature of Essa Mbye Faal as a so-called game changer or a Ndongo Banjul. Vote for a UDP coalition to put an end to this madness and “chameleoning” style of government to fix our country with HONOR, DECENCY, INTEGRITY, CREDIBILITY, AND PATRIOTISM for good!
