(JollofNews) Senegal will lead military intervention to oust the Gambia’s President Yahya Jammeh if he refuses to step down when his mandate expires on 19 January, a senior official of the West African regional grouping Ecowas has said.
“Stand-by forces” were on alert and would be deployed “to restore the people’s wish” if mediators, led by Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari, failed to persuade Mr Jammeh to give up power, said Marcel Alain de Souza, the chairman of the Ecowas commission.
He added that it was not Ecowas’ “wish to set alight the zone” and if Mr Jammeh “loves” his people, he should “negotiate an exit door calmly”.
Mr Jammeh initially conceded victory to property developer Adama Barrow in the 1 December election, but he later called for the election to be annulled, alleging that it was marred by irregularities.
The Supreme Court has set 10 January as a date for a case brought by Mr Jammeh’s party to cancel the result.
That’s a clearer message that will undoubtedly nail into the skull of the EVIL kanilai KILLER DEVIL & the DEVILISH syndola FIEFDOM militia that occupied Innocent Gambia for the past 22 years; raining DEADLY EVIL, havoc, death & catastrophic economical abuse & embezzlements amongst many others…
God have determinedly blessed the motivation of Decent Gambians, collaborated by the Regional & International communities world over, to ensure the will of the ordinary Gambian citizenry prevail finally, at all costs; Insha Allah…
Long live the Gambia…
Dear senior brother President Jammeh, as your African brother and a legal practitioner; I would truly love to give you these pieces of advice with respect to your current legal posture. My first advice to you is to peacefully hand over executive authority of the Gambia to the president -elect His Excellency Adana Barrow on January 19th 2016 noon as enshrined in the Gambia’s organic law. I would also love if you were to retrospect on the FINA days in power of the following African ex presidents: Gaddafi, Charles Taylor, Doe, Gbagbo, Dadis, Blaise Compare. Another thing you must look at is your military strength. You also need to peruse you legal standing in law.You must also take into consideration the opportunity you had to rule the Gambia 22 years. The likely benefit you stand to gain by peacefully transferring power are numerous including likely clemency from the president-elect, your family safety and assets. But your likely refusal could eventually comprise all of these benefits including public respect. And the last thing I would like to add is that, the only way executive power functions properly and effectively is only upon having the characteristics of authorities and these authorities are vested in the people that you probably condemned today because they have proudly decided otherwise for their happiness and safety as enshrined in the Gambia constitution. So please accept the will of the Gambian people and peacefully give way to the constitutional authority led by his Excellency Adams Barrow the people’s choice. Thanks, and see you on your final moment, the Ball is still in your Court.
God hardened the heart of Pharaoh to his won destruction, Jammeh will never listen, I see him dying like a dog
Ignorance which is also the deprivation of knowledge and freedom on most Gambians, because they are not aware of their options, which renders it impossible for them to choose what is right or wrong. However, On January 18th, when the Senegalese army enters the Gambia, any Gambian soldier that does not follow the will of the people, will be either captured, stripped off their uniforms, jailed as a rebel or killed. Also on that day, any Gambian that is at Jammeh’s alleged inauguration – should know that they have accepted their warrant to be captured, jailed or killed. No innocent Gambia blood will touch the mighty soil, that gives life. I will warn everyone to stays indoor on the 18th (Day of Defiance) and come out in full force to celebrate the third republic of the Gambia on the 19th of January.
As an African gambian .I no for a fact that Mr jammeh is,not willing to do so. Kingship he was expecting. .the boat don’t favor him.is not going to be easy.
Haha ya Jennie , excuse me jammeh you are not as strong OKng as the likes of blade Compaore and kadaffis and where BC are they now?
Let him hand over the power to elected Adama Barrow peacefully.
Senegalese intervention in the Gambia’s sovereign problems will only give us the leeway to help Cassamance finally gain her independence from years of Senegalese subjugation and domination.
The war will be two-pronged. While our loyal forces take on the Senegalese from the north, our most noble Cassamance forces will engage them in the south. Finally, we’ll feast on their corpses and celebrate Cassamance’s independence and final truce with the Gambia. Senegal can NEVER defeat our forces.
Babu we Senegalese are not your enemies. Keep on dreaming Gambian forces combined with mfdc forces from casamance can’t defeat our army. If the evil of kanilaye doesn’t step down by January 19th we will come get him like the USA did with Manuel Noriega and jail him in reubeuss. Second the Gambia and Senegal are too small to be separate states. Our goal should be the reunification of Senegal, the Gambia, and Bissau Guinea.
Babu, what do you say now, ignorant?
Senegal and Gambia are one. Jammeh left and there was no bloodshed, neither in Gambia, nor in Senegal. And guess what? Casamance want and deserves the same peace Dakar and all other parts of Senegal enjoy. Senegal has gone long past acting unlawfully in another sovereign country. We, as senegalese, would be the first to freely denounce and disapprove our government for doing so, without any fear of being persecuted. Thank God, we have a country where freedom of expression does exist, and where the will of the people is respected. We just hope our gambian brothers and sisters will see their new government guarantee the same rights to everybody in Gambia, and work hard to keep Gambia running peacefully. We love Gambia.
Babu, go back to history books. Cassamance would have survived over years of their struggle ! Jamie that supported Cassamance is heading to his end. I wish this guy will just hear the calls of international voice. He will earn respect and honour. But the fear is that he has been deceived by some Maraubus. I fell sorry for him and his allies. The end is surely come.
Any country like Senegal solving another nations troubles is uncalled for ,have they restored peace in cassamance region.Baroow maybe elected, but if 22 years Gambia was under jammeh, fellow Africans,Gambia is too small for France to play its politics like mali and ivory coast. Why didn’t the world remove ALi Bongo from power, was Senegal not in African continent.let us think of repercussions .FRANCE brought down Ivory coast into rubbles, even now outarra is not president, because he forced another leader by use of force from paris.France Stole a lot of things from west africa, because senegal has nothing in its soil, its being used and will be dumped by the same france. Is Gabon president in power by legal truth?…
Senegal will just be repeating history; in fact this time around it’s the whole of ECOWAS, with Senegal leading the strategic forces to liberate the Gambia’s constitutionality which has been forcefully usurped & overthrown, & held to ransom for the past 22 years…
The liberation will be another “Foday Uqqat” operation codenamed “Foday Kabba Dumbuya” referenced from Gambian historical past…
The kanilai KILLER DEVIL will only be until January 18; from 19 onwards there’s NO iota of doubt; President Barrow will be swearing in as president & the beginning of the fraternal Heavenly blessings to Gambians & humanity at large; ensuing to the path of progressive prosperity for all human beings in Gambia in conformity with rest of the decent world; Insha Allah…
Long live the Gambia…
For once BAJAW, Luntango and thee are in 100% agreement. We pray Barrow is PEACEFUL inaugurated without any blood shed – but if Jammeh prevents that, ECOWAS and the rest of the International Community will ensure that Jammeh is SPEEDILY removed from The Gambian soil – dead or alive. But let us hope and pray Barrow is inaugurated peacefully.
Washington stop blaming the West for our problems. You should know that the Gambia is inside of Senegal so any unrest there will affect us as well. That’s why we’re getting involved. Senegal has lots of resources (natural gas, phosphate, gold) go do some researches before spitting out some none sense. We are not doing this only for the Gambian people but we’re doing this for our own safety. Don’t forget the Gambia is inside of Senegal, which I never understood why.
why even reply to this Washington guy…he has no idea of what he is talking about….His anger leads him to say things that a prostitute would say…
He is Outta touch….and has no clue of what time it is…….LOL
I doubt what convinced jammeh that he could resist malitarily any foreign attack with only a handful of loyalists in the army mostly of his jola ethnic brethren. The dictator is seeking to render the Gambia ungovernable in the event foreign troops oust him and installed president elect Adama Barrow. Jammeh is just making noise but shaking nothing at all. He wil fail woefully when he thinks all members of the army supports him but time shall tell when bullets starts flying in the air. His trusted aides will tell him “ah yahya yoni jama soriwul” ‘nyi ‘ngi sobu si heh bun dud am ndam’. legi nak nou golo ham bote domam,, suma boppa mala genal du ban na la”. coward jammeh will end up taking refuge in pit latrines. so jammeh don’t be foolish enough to venture in war that you are bound to loose. Therefore surrender the reins of power to the legitimate leader H.E Mr Barrow within the valid period as prescribed in the Gambian Constitution or any delay you will have yourself to blame. The Army Follow Legitimacy,,
I am sure that Mr.Jammeh will step down peacefully and Mr. Barrow as president because Jammeh is a showman. Jammeh is afraid to lose his ilegal wealth. The Gambian army as a whole knows his duty.Jammeh will leave the country soon or does the right thing (hand over power)
