(JollofNews) -A senior partner in the Gambia’s opposition coalition, Mai Ahmad Fatty, Wednesday said they have received information about an alleged plot being hatched by some elements in the regime of Yahya Jammeh to kill one or two members of the coalition.
Mr Fatty did not reveal any details about the plot but said Mr Jammeh wants to use the murder of the opposition figures as a pretext to declare a state of emergency in the small West African nation.
Writing on his Facebook page, Mr Fatty said: “Word is out regarding the plan to shoot to death one or two Coalition leaders, as a pretext to declare a state of emergency. Advice to Gambians : do not respond to provocation. Your Nation has changed for the good. The New Gambia is here to stay.”
Mr Fatty’s remarks came in the wake of a story posted by a fake news website, Skytrendnews, that President-elect Adama Barrow 51, was killed by unknown assailants in the Gambian capital, Banjul.
According to the website, the assailant overpowered Mr Barrow’s private security guards, leaving two of the guards dead and other six injured from gunshots.
Mr Barrow, the surprised winner of last month’s presidential election, is due to be sworn-in on January 19th but President Yahya Jammeh has rejected the results and is refusing to step down.
The dispute over the election results has raised tensions in the region, with both neighbouring countries and international powers urging Mr Jammeh to step down
And as the political crisis deepens, leaders of the West African regional grouping have authorised a so-called Ecowas Standby Force (ESF) to intervene militarily if Mr Jammeh refuses to give up power when his mandate expires on January 18.
But as the deadline nears, Mr Jammeh who has secured the backing of the Gambian army, is standing his ground and has vowed to fight off any foreign invasion.
Who hired the FakeNews site to spread false news – with the aim of inciting Barrow supporters? FakeNews and FakeCharges is how Jammeh and his “Managers” arrested and killed people over 22 years. Jammeh is clearly mad if he intends to fight ECOWAS with mercenaries – but surely he is not suicidal if he is infact sending his Rolls Royces out? Killing an opposition leader at this point by Jammeh would be a suicidal act. Gambia and the World had changed – as far as Jammeh is concerned. Even mad people are not normally suicidal.
Gambians always under rate this scourge of God..! His evil knows no bound..For 22 ys his govenment has been killing our people unlawfully ,plundering the nation’s wealth with the help of spits and boops like Yankuba Kolley , Yankuba badjie… Mama Fatima Sighateh the legal Ass wipe…. and the blood thirsty dogs of NIA, the rapist..pigs. We pray and hope to God , their evil machinations -befalls none but themselves. ..These traitors of the Republic..shall meet their day…They will have a date with the Gambia and her people..Inshallah. …it will not be on their terms…
FREE OMAR MALLEY JABANG !
Well, I think this is not and should never have been a surprising news to anyone because everyone including the international community should have known better that threatening a dictator like the so-called Jammeh type would obviously result to brutally murdering the opposition figures. Professionally, and militarily they didn’t have to disclose their plan “B” military “OPS” all they had to do was to persuade him and keep plan “B” alive, “covertly, and eventually execute it as an utmost surprise upon the failure of every diplomatic effort. But disclosing such a terrible plan obviously undermined the security and success of the very inauguration of the president-elect his Excellency Adama Barrow. My personal advice to the ” ECOWAS ” is that for to put some proactive military measures in place including skeletal deployment to avoid chaos. They the mandate to do that, and they shouldn’t sit to allow this one headed dictator to start murdering innocent civil people before intervening, I would personally called that “AIDING and ABETTING” whatever crime that will be committed by this murderous dictator “JAMMEH” whose track record is nothing but murder. So please add your voices to mine so as to compel all competent required authorities to intervene now. I thank you all all for your numerous contributions in shaping our world to a Democratic standard and a free world that grants everyone a chance to realize their dreams irrespective of who they are by religion, race, ethnic and or poor or rich, and the society that also adapt the great concept that no insignificant person was ever born. Thanks.

Almost all of us agree 100% that Africa must be truely liberated and independent. We cannot forget the horrific history of slavery and colonization either. The disagreement is that, we cannot demand respect from the West and at the same time disrespecting our own brothers and sisters. For example, the subjugation of our brothers and sisters just because we disagree. We can disagree with the West and at the same time respect Democracy, human rights and the rule of law in Africa.
