(JollofNews)- President Adama Barrow be aware of sycophants and lobbyists and surrogates and selfish supporters.
They delayed and derailed and fooled Jawara only to destroy him! They exalted him like a god and claimed a Gambia without Jawara was inconceivable. In the end a humble and decent man was trapped in deception such that he could not salvage his people! Then they abandoned him.
It is these same people in the name of party and ‘patriotism’ who transformed a young lieutenant with probably good intentions on July 22 into a monster 22 yeas later. In the end he has to exile himself from his country of birth, abandoned! Where are those gathering at his solidarity marches and festivals? Many of them are around you now! Today some of them are exposing him at the commission.
This time is your turn! Do not seek for praise singers and those who would call you “No Faulter” as they called Jawara. Listen to diverse and divergent and even unpleasant and dissenting voices for your own good and legacy and for the good of the country.
Do not let these sycophants make you believe what you are not. Do not let them make you do what is not right. Do not let them paint you in the colour they wish. Do not let them separate you from the true interests and concerns and aspirations of your people, The Gambians!
Insist on inclusion and accountability and performance. Free yourself from partisan and any other sectarian considerations to which these sycophants would want to confine you. Let them not put you in a box but equally seek independent voices and perspectives to get a good grasp of issues for the good of The Gambia!
Remember! Just like Jawara and Jammeh the day of reckoning shall come.
I love you and wish you success for that is my success too!
God Bless The Gambia.
Thank you for your good and sincere advice brother Madi.
My worst fear for the future of our country and the transition process in particular is the effect of these group of people you mentioned; sycophants and lobbyists and surrogates and selfish supporters. There only focus is how to ensure self aggrandizement. They have been and are still the real enemies of our country and people but this time around they will fail because we are not going to give them a free ride.
Good advice, but I honestly think it may be a bit too late. The rot has already begun. The sycophants and praise singers are already winning.
Witness the unaccounted and opaque use of public funds to corrupt and influence public institutions.
GRTS was the first to receive “gifts” of vehicles from the executive, without the source of the funds been made clear, though many suspect it was from the GRA.
NAMS have benefited from another round of “gifts”, if Amat Bah is to be believed, and yet again, sources of funds unclear, but the grinning GRA DG’s presence at the ocassion was not missed.
Reports of frozen super cars/vehicles from the Jammeh collection being used by friends and family members of the President are making the rounds, without any clarity from the authorities.
And worryingly, the reaction to any who dare raise a concern, is all too familiar: the YELLOW (UDP) crowd have now assumed the role of the once, invincible GREEN (APRC) crowd, and they are playing it to perfection.
Gambia has decided and voted for change, but that change is likely to be an illusion, in many, many ways.
Madi Jobarteh, Njundu Drammeh and most of the Barrow supporters will be held responsible for cultivating an INEPT administration in our country. I said earlier that this is the wrong administartion for our country and most on-line subscribers began calling me the prophet of doom.
The most serious mistake our unqualified politicians did was to select an unqualified illiterate figure for such a prolific position, the presidency of our country. In this era on advanced technology and socio-economic mosaic, countries are looking for better representatives than such a figure.
He is surrounded by elements who have read more than he did and would always work to instruct him which he cannot refuse. What can he do to defend himself?
Jack,
You better address that argument of education to our constitutional clause that stipulates at least secondary school completion to contest as president with instruction in the English language, our foreign “official” language. When the constitution is modified it might include secondary school completion in Mandinka, Wollof, Fula, Jola, Sarahule, Kasinko, Bainunko, Manjako, Karoninko and/or my tribe Manswanko to contest for presidency. Who knows?
Nonetheless, refer to the modern era in which we are living in, when the trend of social, political and economic managements are trotting fast around modern technology. We NEED learned/well educated/well informed patriotic leaders. Not the “glorified” types in our administration. Be HONEST! Barrow is just not FIT for this top job.
I fully understand your posture. You can a diehard UNDEMOCRATIC figure. Someone who does not read the views of others much more take them into account. But that’s a waste of your human resources, because divergent views will always prevail in every circumstance, be constructive or not. It’s up to the DEMOCRATIC to take the right course.
