Detained Gambian Soldiers Deny Mutiny Charges

The accused were taken by bus to Mile Two Prisons

Twelve Gambians soldiers who are currently remanded in prison for engaging in mutinous, defamatory, scandalous and unethical acts against the government of President Adama Barrow have rejected the charges against them.

Captain Yahya Biray Jammeh, Lieutenant Abdoulie Jarju, Lieutenant Yaya Jammeh, Sergeant Babucarr Sanneh, Sergeant Malick Bojang, Corporal Sulayman Bojang,Corporal Lamin Gibba, Lance Corporal Ebrima Jallow, Lance Corporal Sambujang Bojang, Lance Corporal Abba Badjie, Lance Corporal Alieu Sanneh and Private Mbemba Camara are accused of treason, incitement and concealment of mutiny and aiding a prisoner to escape state custody.

The men were arrested in July after military investigators uncovered a WhatsApp   group they created called Ajamataw where they share audio and messages that are critical to the government.

The case continues.
