The Minister of Environment and Natural Resources, Rohey John-Manjang, has failed for the fifth time to participate in talks aimed at settling the legal dispute between her and journalist Kebba Ansu Manneh, this medium gathered from credible sources.
Mrs. John-Manjang sometime last year descended down the legal path with reporter Manneh following his report on Alkamba Times about the environment minister’s alleged involvement in a shady timber deal. The minister was reportedly implicated in an illegal timber transaction at Kiang Kaif in the Lower River Region, where she once served as a regional governor.
When Ms. Manjang’s case reached the court, her lawyer announced that his client had opted for an out-of-court settlement.
However, dependable sources informed JollofNews that Mrs. Manjang has yet to participate in five scheduled meetings tailored to bring the parties around the table for a settlement.
