The Arab Gambia Islamic Bank (Agib) has launched an inventive, comprehensive banking package for security officers as well as doctors, nurses and midwives across the country.
The innovative package is custom-built to cater to the banking needs of these critical components of the economy.
The new initiative, dubbed Priority Banking and Financial Care for National Security and Medical Personnel, is designed to eliminate all stresses associated with everyday banking such as long queues. As part of the new initiative, Agib offers several concessions on the dalasi-denominated current account such as zero COT concession for salaries under D20,000, no ledger fee, financing that provides relief and peace of mind for service and medical professionals and no legal, no management or facilitation fees. The initiative allowed officers to carry out their accounts transactions with only their warrant card or medical cards. Once accounts are opened, security and health professionals will be issued free ATM cards and first cheque book.
Representatives of the National Security Adviser(NSA) and the Minister of health were present during the launch at the Agib HQ along Kairaba Avenue, while the Deputy Chief of Defense Staff, Brigadier General Ousman Gomez, Chief Medical Director at EFSTH, Dr. Mustapha Bittaye, and AIG Administration at the GPF, Ebrima Bah, all graced the launch with their presence.
In his opening remarks, Manager of Public Affairs at Agib, Mr Malick Mboob, expressed Agib’s appreciation of the crucial role of men and women of the armed and security services as well as the sterling contribution of doctors and midwives to national development.
According to Mr Mboob, thanks to Agib’s recognition and profound sense of appreciation of the efforts of the country’s security and medical professionals, the bank is poised to blaze the trail to ensure that priority is also given to them when it comes to the bank’s services.
He highlighted that the initiative signifies the importance that Agib attaches to the maintenance of national security and healthcare delivery.
The Agib public affairs manager pointed out that innovation in banking is not all about technology, noting that it also entails design of responsive and inclusive financial services.
Speaking on behalf of the Agib boss, the bank’s chief finance manager Mrs Fatou Ceesay described the launch of the new priority banking and concessionary financing initiative as “another key achievement in the banking industry”.
Mrs Ceesay highlighted that the launch of the initiative forms part of Agib’s continuous pursuit to make banking as “seamless” as possible.
“We truly appreciate the enormous role these astonishing individuals play in safeguarding our society. Your relentless efforts to maintain peace, security, and enhance health delivery in society can never be underestimated, which is why we are motivated to support you as strongly as we can,” she stated.
Mrs Ceesay explained that Agib introduced the privilege or priority banking lane for security and health personnel to ensure faster or more convenient access due to their special roles.
While expressing hope that these “priority lanes” will further enhance the banking experience of the security and health professionals, the Agib’s chief finance manager stated that they will further complement the bank’s ATM service as well as seamless e-banking platforms such as the Omni Max, mobile App and custom-made internet banking.
“Today’s launching is part of our broader commitment to innovate and roll out exceptional services that go beyond traditional banking services to our esteemed customers,” she added.
