The APRC-No-To-Alliance is monetizing former President Jammeh’s announced return to The Gambia from exile this month.
The alliance considers Mr. Jammeh’s much-talked-about home-return as a money-spinning event and, it’s squandering no time in cashing in on it. The political movement has already announced the commencement of Ashobi sales with a view to raising financial resources ahead of next year’s presidential election.
The Jammeh faction of the APRC has been struggling financially since it was defeated at the polls in 2017.
However, the movement believes Jammeh’s “inevitable return” from exile would give it that much-needed financial boost through Ashobi sales.
The party has put up for sale sea-green and dark-green Ashobis.
“We have sea-green and dark-green and they can chime with all the accessories. I think it [Jammeh’s return] is less than two or three weeks. If you rush early, you should be able to grab the dark green, which is more beautiful. Six metres is just D450. We need money,” one APRC lady TikToker said.
However, financial resource mobilization is not the only objective of the Ashobi sales as JollofNews was made to understand. Party unity was also at the heart of the decision to conduct the Ashobi sales.

“The advice from the executive is to maintain uniformity. Yahya Jammeh said he doesn’t want anyone to buy his own outfit [for his welcoming]. Yahya’s coming is inevitable,”said the TikToker.
