Barrow Expected In UDP Heartland Saturday As Battle For Hearts & Minds Intensify Ahead Of 2026 Poll

The Gambian leader Adama Barrow is expected to attend a “mass” political rally in the UDP stronghold of Kombo Sukuta on Saturday as the battle for hearts and minds gathers momentum ahead of next year’s general election.

Though the election is a little more than one year away, the strategists of the ruling and the main opposition parties are going back to the drawing board, devising their war plans and replenishing their war chests.

The leader of the UDP Lawyer Ousainou Darboe has been addressing local political gatherings with renewed hope and energy as the 2026 presidential election fast-approaches.

The NPP grassroots supporters have also been organising political meetings in rural and urban Gambia in their effort to drum up support for President Barrow and the NPP.

One of such meetings is expected to take place in Sabiji this Saturday with the President and the secretary-general of the NPP expected to grace it with his presence as the Chief Guest of Honour.

The Sabiji rally is being spearheaded by the NPP Rapid Reaction Force led by co-opted NPP executive Musa Suso.

Sources informed JollofNews that NPP supporters from as far as Basse and Farafenni are expected to descend on Sukuta in grand style.

As part of the associated events, Gambia’s Kora King Jaliba Kuyateh and his Kumareh band are expected to stage a “spectacular” musical performance in Brikama, starting Friday afternoon.

Those, whose appetite might be whetted by Jaliba’s Brikama performance need not worry, as the Kora maestro and his Kumareh band will be in Sukuta on Saturday to offer entertainment on a “bigger, better scale”, sources hinted JollofNews.
