The secretary-general and leader of the governing National People’s Party (NPP) Adama Barrow is expected to grant honour to his party’s diaspora fund-raising event in the Spanish city of Girona by his presence.
The Gambian leader, according to NPP officials, will be in Girona on 4th October as the event’s Special Guest.
Themed Strengthening National Development Through Global Gambian Engagement, the NPP Diaspora Fund-Raising Event, according to officials, aims to mobilize financial resources for the ruling party ahead of the much-anticipated presidential election later next year.
The NPP’s main political rival; the UDP, has since set the ball rolling for its diaspora funds mobilization with successful fund-raising events held in the Greater Seattle Area in the US and Spain in Europe.
