Barrow Promises Citizens Will Come First In New Development Push

President Adama Barrow told supporters in Busumbala on Monday evening that his government is shifting its focus toward the everyday needs of Gambians rather than political battles.

peaking to a packed gathering, he said the country’s development work must reflect the realities faced by ordinary people, no matter which party controls a constituency.

Barrow singled out Works and Infrastructure Minister Ebrima Sillah while making the point that public needs take precedence over partisan concerns. He stressed that communities suffering from poor services and slow development are made up of Gambians who deserve attention from the state.

The president pointed to the Old Yundum Market as an example of an area that has long required urgent intervention. He said he often feels for the vendors who work there in difficult conditions marked by poor spacing and inadequate hygiene.

Although the market does not currently contribute tax revenue, Barrow said the government has a responsibility to act. He pledged upgrades that include better structures for traders, especially those selling along the highway, and improved toilet facilities to create a cleaner and safer environment for both vendors and customers.

In closing, Barrow walked the Busumbala crowd through a list of projects his administration has completed in the town and nearby communities. He repeated that his government is committed to practical improvements that reach people directly and reflect their priorities rather than the political map.
